Thanksgiving Weekend Workout – Don’t forget your health and fitness goals during the holiday season

This blog was researched and created by our wonderful intern Anna Van Orsow.  She is currently a senior at Wayzata High School, and has been shadowing our physical therapy team.  Thanks Anna!

At Odom Heath and Wellness, we are thankful for our patients, for our hardworking staff, for those who contribute to our success and for the opportunity to assist you in living a healthy life. We believe it is important to maintain your workouts and training during the holidays.  Here are a few easy at home exercises that will help you feel great even after your Thanksgiving dinner:

Walk for 15 minutes after your meal. This can be done the day before Thanksgiving also. This can prevent any weight gain and will help boost your overall calorie burn leading up to your meal.

Run for 15-30 minutes either Saturday or Sunday. This will give you a day or two off but will also help you transition smoothly back to your daily training. Performing longer cardio sessions during the holidays is a great strategy.

These next exercises can be done in the ladder format.

◦Do 9 of each exercise, then 8, next 7,6,5,4,3,2,1 down the ladder.

◦After that, go back up the ladder: 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 with each exercise.

     Push Ups

     Squats

     Crunches

     Burpees

Odom Health and Wellness wishes you a Happy Thanksgiving. We hope you are successful in maintaining your workouts over the holidays.
