I want to introduce y’all to dear friends of mine and fabulous couple that worked together for weight loss success. Brad and his lovely wife, Sheree, started coming to OHW to slim down, learn how to eat healthier for two (they are new empty nesters) and work out with a personal trainer. The started working out and meeting with the OHW dietitian in August 2012. In the first five months Brad lost over 11 inches around his waist, hips and glutes. Sheree lost over 11 inches around her midsection and decreased her body fat by over 7%.
Most importantly, they have maintained their improvements and continued making progress for over a year! After working with OHW for one year, Sheree has lost a total of 19 inches around her waist, hips and glutes and maintained the 7% decrease in her percent body fat. Brad now has more muscle mass than fat mass by percentage-a body composition switch that has tremendous health benefits.
Brad and Sheree both had previous injuries that made exercising difficult and worrisome at times. Sheree had several negative experiences with personal trainers in the past and was worried about getting hurt again after low back surgery in 2011. “I began working out with John Edwards (the OHW trainer with rehab and physical therapy experience) and any hesitation I had about personal trainers has been erased by John. He constantly encourages me and pushes me to try harder when he knows it is safe and my body can handle it. I realized I could do more than I thought which resulted in losing weight and inches.” Brad has also improved his arm and shoulder movement drastically since he lost range of motion and flexibility long ago after a shoulder surgery.
Besides the medical fitness, OHW is different because of the in depth, one-on-one nutrition counseling. We have compiled the clinical research with results-based weight loss strategies to deliver long-term success. This was another concern of Sheree’s since she had gone through the weight loss yoyo several times. So what made this time different? “Simply put, the OHW staff are what is different. They worked with us to establish trust and they have trained us how to recognize hunger and fullness signals, the details of choosing better foods and not slipping into old habits.”
Sheree is most proud of the fact that she dropped two dress sizes in the first five months and kept it off. She feels much better about herself and is confident she can maintain her improvements for the long haul. Brad is proud of the inches he lost and the muscle he has gained. He says, “mentally we have seen results. Feeling better physically and having more stamina added years to our lives.” Sheree actually subtracted nine years from her physiological age.
