Summer Therapy

by | Jun 22, 2013 | General Info

Part of staying fit and well is knowing how to relax. The body has to have a chance to rejuvenate itself. With summer finally here, it can be hard to remember that taking time for yourself is important both mentally and physically.

It seems the summer is a time to socialize, take part in water sports, overeat (hopefully not) at BBQs, and soak in the sun. Well, while you are doing all of these things this summer remember to hydrate. Water is important. And, if you want to get really fancy- try making this Summer Relaxation Mist. It is a mix of essential oils, which you can purchase at any health food store or Whole Foods, and water. This Mist helps relax the mind and muscles and refreshes dry, heat-exposed skin. Plus, it smells like summer!

Essential Oils:
2 drops sweet basil
1 drop Geranium (Bourbon)
3 drops lavender

What to do:
1. Fill a clean, dry mini spray bottle with 4 ounces of pure distilled water.
2. Using a dropper, carefully put the selected blend of essential oils directly into the spray bottle.
3. Tightly close the bottle and shake vigorously to combine. Be sure to shake it before each use, as the water and essential oils tend to separate.

Note: If you’re on high-blood pressure medication (or have any medical ailments) please consult with your doctor before making and/or applying this Summer Relaxation Mist. Additionally, this Mist should only be applied every other our and in sparse doses.
