Weight Loss Success Story Update

by | Mar 2, 2015 | Healthy Living, Weight Loss and Maintenance

Odom Health & Wellness is unable to provide nutrition and weight loss services for individuals living outside of Minnesota

Last February in 2014 we featured a very wonderful client and the amazing changes she made to her body, her habits and her lifestyle. It is so exciting to be able to feature Katelyn and her (now!) husband Justin again for her weight loss success story update! Katelyn has maintained all her progress and gained so much more experience in healthy living over the past two years. Check out Katelyn’s story HERE.

She started working with the OHW team spring of 2013, has been making amazing progress, and she just checked back in with us after getting married recently. This beautiful bride was healthy choices and consistency in the making but she has a whole life of health and beauty ahead.

Here are Katelyn’s own words from her experience and her encouragement.

I felt amazing on my wedding day and it was absolutely the best day! I cannot say thank you enough to Team Odom for helping me adopt a whole new attitude about eating and health. I just wanted to let you know that your advice and guidance have all stuck and I thought I would just share a couple photos with you. 🙂

The top 3 things that have made the change in body composition and healthy habits stick would be:

  1. How much better I feel after we eat a nutritious meal or have a good workout. I know there are just times I do not feel like going to the gym after a day at work, but then I remember how great I felt leaving the gym the visit before and it gives me the little push I need to get there! I also invested in a really cute gym bag that I like taking to work with me, so I have my workout gear with me and have no excuse not to get to the gym!
  2. Having fun with cooking and getting creative with making meals more well-rounded and nutritious. I thought I used to like cooking but I like it so much more now! Menu planning and making our grocery list for the week is something I have really come to enjoy. I get a lot of inspiration from Ellie Krieger’s cookbooks and the blog ‘Iowa Girl Eats’. I still really love baking as well, but I found it to be difficult for my self-control to have a lot of sweets left around the apartment. So now after I bake I will keep a small portion for us and the rest we will take to work! It’s a great way for me to still enjoy my hobby and it makes me a favorite at lab 🙂
  3. Everything in moderation!! This kind of goes in with my baking, but I love chocolate and ice cream and basically any type of sweet treat! And it was one of my biggest struggles to not feel guilty when I indulged, but I have learned to put that into perspective! I know that I take care of myself by exercising and eating a well-balanced diet so there is absolutely no reason I shouldn’t allow myself to have a treat!

I think what is going to make everything continue to stick is just the knowledge that I am making good decisions for myself to live a long, healthy life! I also really like that by cooking healthy meals and doing more ‘active’ activities with my husband, even if its just an after dinner walk, we are getting in good habits that we will be able to share with future family.
