Do you suffer from Runner’s Knee? Are you aware of what Runner’s Knee is and what the symptoms are? Dr. John Odom has created a special video for this blog to discuss Runner’s Knee. While we are the go-to facility in Minnesota to treat Runner’s Knee, below is a list of symptoms associated with this sports injury.

First, know that Runner’s Knee isn’t always associated with running. It can impact any athlete who does activities that require a lot of knee bending — like walking, biking, and jumping. Runner’s Knee usually causes aching pain around the kneecap. And, did you know that Runner’s Knee isn’t considered a medical condition? It’s true. It is basically a label to describe common symptoms associated with overuse as the result of walking, biking, jumping and/or running.

Symptoms of runner’s knee are:

Pain behind or around the kneecap.
Pain when you bend the knee.
Pain that’s worse when walking downstairs or downhill.
Swelling of the knee.
Popping or grinding sensations in the knee.

Dr. Odom can provide you with a thorough physical exam to help confirm or rule out Runner’s Knee. He may require you to have X-rays, an MRI, a CT scan, and/or other tests to help him diagnose the issue(s) surrounding your knee.
